Fabrizio Gelain

Fabrizio Gelain is Co-Director of the new Center of Nanomedicine and Tissue Engineering (CNTE) at the Niguarda Ca’ Granda hospital in Milan. He conducted his research projects at the Stem Cell Research Institute (Milan), at the Center of Biomedical Engineering (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab.

In 2008 he was appointed Group Leader at the University of Milan -Bicocca (Italy) and Associate Editor of PLoS ONE scientific journals and Neuroengineering frontiers. In over 15 years of experience in the fields of tissue engineering and nanotechnology, he has developed novel self-assembling peptides functionalized for three-dimensional stem cell cultures and neural tissue engineering applications. Two years ago he became Head Unit at the IRCCS Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza in San Giovanni Rotondo.

Finally, he is a member of the Scientific Advisory Council of the Sam Schmidt Foundation paralysis.
