Marc Rioult


Dr. Rioult has been involved in the development of technologies, technology-based companies, in entrepreneurship, and in technology acquisition and commercialization for over fifteen years after having left academic research. His experience, mainly in life and medical sciences, covers also consumer products, optics, software, microfluidics, and military technologies.
He is currently Managing Director of 3-D Matrix Inc. and of 3-D Matrix Europe SAS, subsidiaries of a Japanese medical device company. In this role, he focuses on management of the two companies, regulatory affairs, business development, and coordination of research. Before, he was a Technology Licensing Officer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he managed and developed a large portfolio of faculty and their inventions, intellectual property, and licenses. He was involved in the creation of over ten startups in life sciences, pharma, and biotech industry. Before joining MIT he worked consecutively for two consulting firms engaged in intellectual property and technology transactions for clients ranging from global Fortune 500 clients to small businesses. The consulting activity was preceded by the co-management of a small life sciences software company developing image acquisition and analysis software for life sciences after leaving academic research in neuroscience at Brown and Yale University, and at the ETH in Zurich. Dr. Rioult has published and lectured internationally on various business and science topics, has consulted for small and large organizations for over twenty years and serves currently on the board of directors of two startups in the US and Canada, of a French engineering school, and on the international board of editors of a European medical journal.
