Marielle Mentek, DVM, PhD

Dr. Marielle Mentek is scientist in the R&D Innovation Center team of Menicon Co., Ltd., Geneva, Switzerland. After obtaining her Veterinary Degree from National Veterinary School of Toulouse (ENVT, France), she majored in ophthalmology during two-years internship in the ophthalmology departments of Veterinary Hospital Saint-Martin (Annecy, France) and ENVT. Following an MSc degree at Grenoble-Alpes University, she completes her PhD in the laboratory HP2 – Hypoxia and Physiopathology (INSERM U1042). In particular, she was involved in studying the vascular deleterious effects of obstructive sleep apnea on retinal and optic nerve vasculature. She worked on the development of a laser Doppler prototype for the study of rodent retinal blood perfusion, in association with the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Western Switzerland.

She joined R&D Innovation Center team in April 2016 and is currently working on genetic predictor markers for dog glaucoma and other diseases. She is particularly involved in GLAUCOGEN research group, which aim to promote new strategies for Glaucoma prevention and treatment in animals and humans.
