Dr. Kropp, head of research in experimental ophthalmology, is focused on gene-/cell-therapy to treat neurodegeneration (Geneva University) with 68 publications and obtaining $333’287 funding from national, international and private foundations. After completing her Master in neurophysiology (RWTH Aachen University), an internship aroused her interest in stem cells leading to a PhD thesis in progenitor cell therapy in cardiology (Heinrich-Heine University, Düsseldorf). She returned to neurophysiology, developed neurodegeneration models, and performed clinical/gene therapy research (University Hospital Aachen). She is continuing this research in Geneva specialized on ocular cell/retina isolation and culture, in vivo studies, 3R approaches, regulatory and ethical affairs
